History
Grupo Folklórico de LMU has been active for almost 50 years! In 1970, sixteen students joined together to perform for the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration on campus. Two years later, they officially formed Grupo Folklórico de LMU under the leadership of director-choreographer, Emilio Pulido. Over the years it has performed at various academic events including Orientation, Open House, and the Writer's Conference. It has also performed at incredible venues off-campus like the Los Angeles Music Center, Olvera Street, and even Disneyland! In the early years, GFLMU had the chance to appear on the television programs of "Mundo Latino" and "On Campus".
We are very thankful for our previous executive boards, members, as well as for the faculty and staff members who have supported us and have made GFLMU into what is it today. We are honored to carry on the legacy of this organization and hope to continue to share our dances and culture with audiences for years to come.
